Client’s Need
For mid – high segment vehicle level, the semi active suspension control aims to Attenuate vertical acceleration, Limit suspension excursion, Reduce the dynamic variation in the tire – road contact force, Attenuate rolling motion, Attenuate pitch motions giving a more comfort sense to the drivers.
Approach
The vehicle is equipped with accelerometers on the wheel ‘hub and domes. An electric actuator is driven by the command current optimized by the control loop to adapt the damper coefficient. Control Architecture involves state estimator, system model and Fast Model Predictive Control. The state estimator make the displacement estimation possible starting from the acceleration coming from the sensors. Extended Kalman Filter is widely used for the present purpose. The system model is needed by the Fast Model Predictive Control to be used to solve optimal problem providing best current to actuate to reject vertical acceleration.
Main Outcomes
- High performance on vertical dynamic attenuation and comfort improvement
On-edge implementation with high accuracy on different road conditions
Scalable solution to similar vehicle range
