Client’s Need

On-board truck weight estimation is yet mandatory in many countries (USA, Canada, EU).
Current solutions are commonly based on expensive hardware sensors requiring installation on the suspension systems of each truck axle (~ €800/€1.000 per axle).

Approach

Using DVS® sensor virtualisation technology, which exploits data already available on board the vehicle dynamics control unit, allows savings in terms of BOM, manufacturing and maintenance of hardware sensors.

Main Outcomes

  • DVS/OBW dynamically measures the weight of the load, enabling compliance with regulations and improving road safety
  • DVS/OBW is a “dynamic OBW” equipment compliant with EU Directive 2015/719 without requiring to install any sensor on suspension systems.
