Client’s Need
Development of the kite model based on cinematic and dynamic and the Model PredictiveControl for high-altitude power generation prototype. Implementation of a high-speed trajectory predictive control of a high-altitude energy generator exploiting NI PXI FPGA that uses IMU and GPS signal and return optimal motor position reference to control the kite.
Approach
Development on Matlab/Simulink simulation environment of the high altitude power generation model and related MPC exlpoting IMU and GPS signals. Manual writing of labview code that implement the Fast MPC in the form of feed forward neural network with the labview restrictions related to the FPGA module. Connection to the I/O interface related to the acceleration/gyroscope, GPS and position reference signals coming from PXI processor. Synthesis of labview code on FPGA exploiting Xilinx Vivado.
Main Outcomes
- High-rate speed implementation of trajectory control.
- Reducing of prototyping time to test and calibrate control strategies compare to the classical HDL code development.
