Client’s Need

The digitalization of objects within the urban environment is a critical innovation step for industrial companies. It enables the integration of various information, providing agile maintenance and control of networks. A major challenge will be object recognition using a vehicle-mounted device capable of georeferencing detected elements with extremely high precision.

Approach

Modelway supported the Italian company in the identification of a solution for object recognition, specifically gas pipes, with a vehicle-mounted device able to recognize specific targets in an urban context.

Main Outcomes

  • Optical technology design: setup of the most promising technologies in terms of cost competitiveness and performance to be implemented for the scene acquisition.
  • Geolocalization system design: identification of technologies for high precision (1 cm target) of targets
