Biography of Mario Milanese

Mario Milanese is the founder of Modelway Srl. Mario Milanese received the laurea degree in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy, in 1967. From 1968 to 1980 he hold different research and teaching positions at Università di Torino and Politecnico di Torino. From 1980 to 2010, he has been a Full Professor of System and Control Theory at Politecnico di Torino. From 1982 to 1987 he has been the head of the Dipartimento di Automatica e Informatica at Politecnico di Torino. At present he is with Modelway, a start-up that he founded in 2004. His research interests include robust identification, prediction and control of uncertain systems, and applications to biomedical, automotive, aerospace, financial and environmental problems. He is the author of about 300 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the editor of the books Robustness in Identification and Control (Plenum Press, 1989) and Bounding Approaches to System Identification (Plenum Press, 1996). He has been involved in several national and international projects and in several research contracts in collaboration with Italian and European companies. He is the inventor of several patents in automotive and wind energy fields. He received the 1984 International Huspy Awards for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, the 1999 Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences Fellowship and the 2011 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CONTROL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY Outstanding Paper Award.
